Announcing Elana Amsterdam as our July Featured Blogger (and giveaway)!!!

To say we are beyond excited to announce that Elana Amsterdam of Elana's Pantry has agreed to be the featured blogger in our app for the month of July would be an understatement.  If there is anyone in the blogging world that knows about gluten- and grain-free cooking, it is her.  She has been grain-free for over a decade, starting back when most of us hadn't even heard of the term gluten-free much less fathomed a grain-free lifestyle.  Over that time she has relentlessly created and tested hundreds of recipes that please everyone, even those not on a restrictive diet.  

She will be bringing five recipes to our app, all of which are a good representation of her work over the years.  The recipes of course will be added free of charge to anyone who already owns it and will have our usual features of being able to see multiple serving sizes, save them to a cooking queue, see them in your cooking history, see them in US and Metric measurements, and add them to your shopping list.

Elana has many Paleo recipes on her website that have become extremely popular over the last few years, so she decided to write a book featuring recipes for the Paleo diet.  That book, Paleo Cooking from Elana's Pantry, is set to be released next Tuesday, June 18th.  I was one of the lucky few to get an advanced copy and have been busy cooking many recipes from it.  What do I think?  Let's just say it is definitely going to become one of the first "go-to" books in my cookbook collection.  It is filled with so many great recipes and such a wonderful variety that you really can't go wrong.

I also made the Paleo Bread, but that was turned into the Cinnamon French Toast before we were able to take a picture. Oops!  

Each of these recipes were delicious, but the ones that completely stood out to me were the Cinnamon French Toast, the Blueberry Coffee Cake, and the Olive Oil Thyme Crackers.  They all were so scrumptious that I had to struggle to make myself stop eating them and I really think someone not used to eating grain-free would not even know they were grain-free.   And they all passed the ultimate of all tests in our household, our 3.5 year old son loved them!  

So I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a good variety of recipes that are crowd pleasing and healthy.  The majority of recipes look to be suitable for those on full GAPS and the SCD, though there are a few ingredients you may have to swap out or skip.  You can pre-order the book here.
